Ego Relaxation Inquiry Practice

Ego relaxation is so simple, and yet it is a very advanced spiritual practice of nondoing. This is what can make it hard to grasp conceptually. Yet nothing I have found in three decades of guiding others in transformation is as powerful at bringing us into direct experience of the sacred. Ego relaxation settles your frantic ego. You become more accepting and more peaceful. The more you learn to just be here, not in your thoughts about your experience but directly dropped into your direct experience, the more you land deeper in Grace. Now you have a practice that can carry you through life’s peaks and valleys, all the way home.

Use this line of inquiry anytime you notice you are no longer present but caught in some struggle.

What limits you from dropping deeper and letting yourself be?
See what resistance arrives toward ego relaxation. Do not worry about where you should be but instead just see what actually limits you, without judgment. Whatever you find, remember you do not have to do anything about it. Just let it be met with unconditional allowing just as the sun warms whatever it contacts. Follow the thread of whatever you saw with the next question.

What does this provide that you think you need?

Any defense or resistance is held together by a presumption, fear, concern, or belief, whether conscious or unconscious. Again, see what wants to be brought to the light of unconditional awareness. Again, there’s nothing to do. Just meet it.

Dig deep with the two questions above for at least ten minutes. Then take another ten minutes to journey further with the next question.

What’s it like, in body, heart, and mind if you allow your direct experience to be exactly as it is?
Having met your resistance in the prior questions, with this question, you are invited to explore how the practice of ego relaxation affects you. Surf your inner terrain with as much detail as possible. Notice what happens when you are present, without resistance or commentary.
